The FAIR GAME project has officially moved from planning into action. During our May online meeting, held on 26 May 2026, all five partner organisations came together to discuss one of the most exciting milestones of the project: the launch of the first co-design workshops with children.
Why Co-Design Workshops?
At the heart of FAIR GAME is a simple but powerful conviction: children should not just be the subject of this project, they should be active contributors to it. The co-design workshops are designed to create safe, inclusive, and participatory spaces where children can share their experiences, express concerns, identify opportunities, and directly contribute to the development of project outputs. Their voices matter, and these workshops are how we make sure they are heard.
First Experiences from Finland
The first workshop has already taken place in Finland, led by our partner Save the Children Finland. During the meeting, the team had the opportunity to reflect on this first experience and share practical insights that will help strengthen the next rounds of activities across Europe. It was an encouraging start, confirming that children are eager to engage and have plenty to say about their experiences in online gaming environments.
What Comes Next?
Building on the Finnish experience, the consortium is now preparing for the next workshops, which will soon take place in Spain, Cyprus, and the Netherlands. Each session will bring new and diverse perspectives, helping FAIR GAME build a truly European picture of children’s experiences and expectations in digital gaming spaces.
Beyond the Workshops: The FAIR GAME Ambassadors
The meeting also sparked an important conversation about how to make children’s participation meaningful beyond the workshops themselves. One exciting avenue discussed was the future FAIR GAME Ambassadors initiative, which will give children the opportunity to bring their voices closer to relevant stakeholders and contribute to real change in gaming environments.
