In February 2026, the FAIR GAME project officially kicked off in Castellón de la Plana, Spain, at Universitat Jaume I (UJI), the project coordinator. For the first time, all five partner organisations came together in person to meet, exchange ideas, and lay the foundations for the next two years of work.
A Project Born to Make a Difference
Online gaming is part of everyday life for millions of children across Europe. Yet too often it comes with cyberbullying, mental health pressures, and design choices that prioritise engagement over wellbeing. FAIR GAME was created to change that, with a clear mission: to make children’s rights a real standard in gaming.
Five Partners, Five Countries
The FAIR GAME consortium brings together five organisations from five different countries, each contributing unique expertise to the project:
- Universitat Jaume I (UJI) — Spain
- All Digital — Belgium
- 8D Games — Netherlands
- University of Limassol — Cyprus
- Save the Children Finland — Finland
Together, they represent a diverse mix of knowledge spanning education, digital literacy, child rights, gaming, and communication.
What Happened at the Kick-Off Meeting?
The kick-off meeting was an opportunity for the partners to meet face to face for the first time, get to know one another, and discuss how to best implement the project. The team reviewed the project’s objectives, agreed on ways of working, and defined the next steps for the months ahead. It was a productive and energising start, setting a collaborative and motivated tone for the journey ahead.
What Comes Next?
With the kick-off behind us, FAIR GAME is now moving into its first phase of activities. Over the coming months, the consortium will begin developing the project’s key outputs, engaging with children, parents, educators, and policymakers across Europe.
